New Mexico/Arizona Merger
Southwest Federation Merger: FINAL!
I am pleased to announce that at long last, our New Mexico and Arizona Federations have officially merged into the new Southwest Federation, effective March 5, 2025. This means we can now put our leadership and resources together to move NARFE's work forward in the Southwest. It will still take some weeks to merge functions such as finances, database information, membership information, FedHub, websites, etc. So we ask for your patience as we move through each of those. We owe our thanks to our Region VII Vice President Sharon Reese, our National President Bill Shackelford, our new National Secretary-Treasurer Cindy Blythe, the entire National Executive Board, and our Arizona and New Mexico Federation Boards for their efforts in support of the merger.
Our elected Southwest Federation Board is as follows: Mark Mickelsen (NM), President; Marlene Seaton (AZ), Vice President; Etta Bryant (AZ), Secretary; and Sharon Willoughby (NM), Treasurer. Additional appointments of Federation appointed officers will follow in the near future. We will be diligent in fulfilling our responsibilities to you as our members. If you have any questions, please let me know. We hope to see you (in person or by Zoom) at our upcoming Inaugural Southwest Federation Conference May 16 and 17 in Las Cruces, New Mexico!
Sincerely,
Mark Mickelsen
Federation President
